Is workplace collaboration just a trendy phase?

Workplace collaboration has been gaining traction over the past few years as organisations realise the potential of harnessing collective intelligence. Collaboration tools allow teams to work together more effectively and efficiently and workspaces are becoming more fluid and dynamic, allowing for greater productivity and innovation. But is workplace collaboration just a passing trend?

The short answer is no. Workplace collaboration isn’t a fad—it is here to stay. As more businesses embrace digital transformation, invest in workspace evolution and recognise the importance of leveraging their collective knowledge, it’s clear that collaboration will remain a key factor in achieving success. This is especially true given the changing nature of work—distributed teams, remote working, the war for talent, etc.

Knight Frank state in their blog “How to Boost Collaboration in the Workplace” that a Stanford study found that employees who work collaboratively stick at a task 64% longer than lone workers.

Forbes write about the fact that companies that promote collaborative working are five times more likely to produce high performing results (https://www.forbes.com/sites/adigaskell/2017/06/22/new-study-finds-that-collaboration-drives-workplace-performance/?sh=5ecc84193d02)

Considering this, how do we go about creating a workspace that truly supports collaboration, while still allowing for privacy and concentration for those who need it? The answer lies in creating spaces that are totally flexible, fluid, dynamic and infintely reconfigurable so that different people and teams are able to create the best spaces for their tasks at hand. This could include dividing space into areas of privacy and break-out sections, incorporating mobile furniture, or using sliding walls such as Float Agile Sliding panels to create spaces that can adjust and adapt to suit the need.

Neighbourhoods, too, are a concept that we see more and more as teams evolve and flux to enhance their ability to collaborate – these spaces require definition and identification without fixing boundaries – again, Float Agile Sliding panels enable neighbourhood spaces to support today’s workforce in this way.

Along with this fluidity and flexibility, its imperative that acoustic considerations are factored in when designing workspace for effective collaboration – as a space changes, so does its acoustic performance. As acoustic dynamics change, so does the wellness of the workforce. As the wellness of the workforce changes, so does the business performance. Not everyone understands how to apply a well-considered acoustic design to a reconfigurable workspace…….Creatif have been doing this for years and are on hand to apply our expertise and know-how anytime.
