Grant Thornton, Cardiff

Helping shape a perfect workspace using a variety of our moving wall and acoustic solutions.

After forty years of being based in the Cardiff suburbs, Grant Thornton decided to relocate its Welsh workforce to a brand-new office in the heart of the city.

The global accounting firm appointed Paramount Interiors to oversee the fit out of its new Cardiff home, and we were soon brought on board to help them turn their modern vision into a contemporary reality.

At the heart of the office lies the board room. Instead of blocking this space off and creating a completely private area, the decision was made to make it accessible through the use of glass partitions.

Boasting unrivalled acoustic properties and the ability to incorporate full-height pass-door panels, our Domino wall was chosen to open the boardroom up to the rest of the open plan office. Within the boardroom and the opposing meeting rooms, we also installed a row of glass panels to run across the fixed back walls. These were back-painted and featured a drywipe finish to encourage agile working when the rooms were in use.

The ability for Grant Thornton’s staff to collaborate and work flexibly was a key theme running throughout Paramount’s overall design. To help effectively zone one such dedicated coworking space, we provided a set of fixed, drywipe panels that doubled up as writable surfaces and a static partition.

Additionally, to safeguard the acoustics within these multi-use zones, we fitted a series of Mellow baffles over the tabled working areas.

The entire project was successfully delivered and drew praise from Grant Thornton’s senior  management team, who described the new space as being the ‘best office in [the Group].’
